Let us be honest: this website isn't perfect and probably isn't going to answer every question that you could have (we have a terrific administrative assistant, by the way). After some thinking, we put together 10 common questions that you may have about New Creation.
1. What do you believe?
Click here to learn more about our Exploring New Creation class, where you can learn more about the values and beliefs of New Creation and the United Methodist church. You can also check out the “What We Believe” on the United Methodist Church website for information such as the basics of our faith, our UM mission statement, our social principles and our social principles outlined by the United Methodist Book of Discipline and the Book of Resolutions.
2. What are your service times and what should I expect?
New Creation offers three services every Sunday morning: one at 8:30 am and two at 11:00 am. Each of our services are unique in style. Click here to learn more about each of our worship services!
3. What should I wear to the services?
“Dress comfortably” will mean different things to different people. Some people are most comfortable in a suit and tie. Some people are comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt. You will never be judged for your appearance at New Creation. We are honored to have you as our guest!
4. What is expected of first-time visitors? Will I be singled-out as a visitor?
We are glad that you have decided to come visit our church! We do not point-out visitors during our services or ask them to stand in front of the congregation. We will ask you to sign one of our visitor sheets in the welcome folder so that we can follow up with you after your visit and connect you with your ministry interests.
5. Who is your Senior Pastor?
Pastor Randy began his ministry as Senior Pastor of New Creation UMC in 2015. Originally from Chesapeake, VA he has served United Methodist churches in Danville, Wakefield, Winchester, and Sterling, Virginia. He and his wife, Robin, are both graduates of Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. They are the proud parents of three musically and athletically gifted sons.
6. Where can I listen to previous sermons online?
Sermons from our Sanctuary services are uploaded to our Worship page by the following Tuesday morning.
7. What should I expect for my children at New Creation?
New Creation aims to offer opportunities for children and youth to follow and serve Christ in an exciting, fun and safe environment with their families and friends. All of our staff and volunteers are required to complete a background and criminal record check and abuse and boundary awareness training.
8. How do I become a member of New Creation?
The commitment of church membership grows out of God's leading and a sense that you have found your home among us. We pray that if you consider joining the New Creation UMC family; that decision will be made prayerfully and with the joy of knowing God has placed you here for His purposes.
If you are considering becoming a member of New Creation or are looking for a new church home, join us for a Coffee with the Pastors session. We offer our Coffee with the Pastors sessions once per quarter. You can learn more out the church, meet and get to know our pastors and staff and discuss the expectations we have for our members.
9. How often do you serve communion? Who is allowed to take communion?
We celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month at each of our services. Here at New Creation, we celebrate an open table—the table does not belong to our pastors, New Creation or even the United Methodist Church. We serve communion around the Lord’s Table and serve to anyone who desires to be a follower of Jesus Christ.
