Rooted in Grace. Centered in Christ. Guided by Scripture.

Our Beliefs

As part of the worldwide United Methodist Church, we hold to the historic teachings of the Christian faith with an emphasis on God’s grace, human dignity, and the call to love God and neighbor.

To learn more about what United Methodists believe, explore these foundational documents:

  • United Methodist Church

The current-day United Methodist Church was founded by John Wesley in the 18th century. Wesley’s Methodist movement, born from the First Great Awakening, has spread to influence over 80 million adherents worldwide, including alternative expressions of Methodism.

  • Articles of Religion

The Articles of Religion were written by John Wesley to reflect the unique theology of the Methodist movement.

  • Confession of Faith

The Confession of Faith of the Evangelical United Brethren Church was also adopted when that denomination merged with the (then) Methodist Church to form the United Methodist Church in 1968.

  • The Apostle’s Creed

In our traditional worship settings, we regularly recite the historic words of the Apostle’s Creed. These are the beliefs we share with all other Christians, regardless of their denomination.

    “I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;

And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.”

Our Congregational Values

Our congregational values are statements of what our church members and attendees believe are important to our faith journey. At New Creation, we’ve discerned five fundamental congregational values:

Active Faith

We follow Christ’s example by serving others in our community and abroad. We partner with other groups to show and share God’s love with all people.

Authentic Hospitality

We embrace the call of Scripture to provide and display hospitality to all. We welcome and celebrate all in our church family, lovingly greeting those seeking and searching.

Heartwarming Connections

We provide nourishment by creating a loving, supportive, multi-faceted family. Through our gatherings, we create friendships around common goals and interests and experience the abundant life that God intends. Our fellowship allows us to give and receive God’s grace.

Inspiring Worship

We create diverse worship experiences that deepen our relationships with God through preaching, music, liturgy, sacraments, and prayer.

Spiritual Growth

We provide learning and teaching opportunities for all ages, taught with love, guidance, concern, and the Holy Spirit.

Our Community Virtues

Community virtues are similar to organizational values; however, they are the deeply held values of the constituents and stakeholders of the community that the organization serves. These five statements represent some but not all of our neighbors' and community leaders’ felt and real needs.

Basic Human Needs

At a time of increasing economic instability, which has impacted basic needs such as food, stable housing, and clothing, our community needs to make available resources respecting the dignity and welfare of our neighbors.

Care for Children

Our community needs access to excellent, timely care for children from diverse family structures. Children need enriching experiences and stable, positive relationships in order to thrive. Care should be provided in a safe space that meets mental, physical, and social-emotional needs.

Physical and Mental Health

Our community and neighborhoods need physical well-being and mental health promoted through interesting and engaging programs available freely to all.

Social Justice

In a world that is more polarized and divided than ever, our neighbors are concerned about the well-being and the fair and just treatment of all persons. Our neighbors yearn for a world where the rights of all persons are respected and where all are fully included and treated with equity and dignity.

Community Relationships

Our community needs good relationships where we can count on and mentor each other.
